Who We Are
The Association of Procurement and Supplies Professionals (APSP) was formed by procurement professionals in Tanzania to address the growing need for capacity building in procurement, supplies, research, and consultancy services. Committed to integrity and professionalism, APSP establishes a code of conduct and ethics to guide public sector practitioners.
APSP works closely with legislative bodies, public institutions, academic organizations, and suppliers to promote professional development and education. Its mission is to enhance the organization, administration, and efficiency of procurement and supply chain management in Tanzania.

What We Do
The Board is responsible for regulating professional standards and conduct in procurement and supplies. To fulfill this mandate, the PSPTB Act empowers the Board to perform the following functions:
1. Policy and Advisory Role
- Formulate and advise the government on procurement and supplies policies.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor personnel requirements in the profession.
2. Training and Education
- Recognize and provide professional advice to training institutions offering procurement and supplies courses.
- Train individuals in procurement principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Conduct professional examinations and grant certificates in procurement, supplies, and related fields.
3. Regulation and Professional Standards
- Establish and enforce professional conduct and ethical standards.
- Regulate the activities of procurement specialists, auditors, and technicians.
- Ensure compliance with the PSPTB Act in procurement and supplies management.
4. Registration and Certification
- Register procurement and supplies professionals.
- Maintain an up-to-date register of certified professionals.
- Evaluate academic and practical qualifications for registration.
5. Industry Development and Engagement
- Organize conferences, seminars, and discussions on procurement and supplies management.
- Prescribe professional fees and charges applicable to the Board.
- Perform any additional functions necessary for upholding the integrity of the profession.
- Assist the public on matters related to procurement and supplies.
These functions define PSPTB’s core role in ensuring adherence to professional standards, conduct, and ethics in procurement and supplies management.
